1. Demonstration Room - There is one demonstration room, fitted with over head projector, slide projector, and other audio visual aids with a seating capacity of 50 students.
2. Practical Laboratories - There is a practical laboratory with preparation rooms. The lab is equipped with benches fitted with shelves, cupboards, sinks, water taps and electric points for microscopes for 50 students.

• Inhibitors Screening Program for Haemophilia patients is presently running in the department of pathology in collaboration with Haemophilia Society, Patna chapter, started from January 2020.

A Modular Practical Laboratory with image capture from original tissue sections and display facility is available for teaching. Hands on practical with OSPE based assessment and tutorials are taken up, besides didactic lectures of undergraduate with involvement of postgraduate students. Use of Index Cards and similies has further enhanced the quality of undergraduate teaching along with their use in OSPE in the exams.

A Pathology Museum has been set up in the college building, in which a varied range of specimens have been mounted for teaching MBBS students. System-wise wet surgical pathology specimens are being established for Post graduate teaching and evaluation.

Pentahead microscope is available for reporting and teaching of postgraduate students. A departmental library, well-stocked with latest books in different sections, is available to support faculty and students during reporting and teaching.

Regular participation in clinico-pathological conferences with clinical specialties is carried out by the faculty of the department. To develop research acumen in students, the students are encouraged to participate in programs such as short-term studentship (STS) projects of ICMR under the monitoring of faculty.

The faculty members actively participate in CME's, Conferences in-house and are invited as speaker, chairperson, panelist in-house and out-side the Institute. The department attends tumor board meetings on regular basis.

The department conducts Inter and Intradepartmental seminars, Journal club, subject seminars, gross and slide seminars for the PGs. Post-graduate students are also posted to pre and para clinical subjects for orientation and understanding of the different pathophysiology of different diseases.

The Department caters to the needs of the AIIMS hospital with the back-up of state-of-the-art, high throughput, automated equipment and high-end microscopes used for timely, synoptic and protocol-based reporting.

The department handles around 14000 histopathology, 5500 cytopathology & over 3200 immunohistochemistry requests per year and has an extensive panel of 142 immunohistochemistry markers.

Histopathology laboratory has fully automated immunohistochemistry, polarizing microscopy, special histochemical stains and frozen section is available and being carried out routinely.

The department runs FNA clinic on daily basis, in the IPD block with on site evaluation of cytological material and preparation of cell blocks is carried out regularly. Routine and microscopic urinalysis is carried out daily.

Cytopathology laboratory services, cervical smear reporting, cytocentrifuge for CSF and other fluid cytology, samples for bronchoscopy and USG, CT guided FNAC facilities are also available

A 24x7 hematology and clinical pathology laboratory caters to in-patients and out-patients and processes about 1000 tests per day.

The department strives to excel and offer expert consultation and quality patient care in sub-specialties of histopathology, cytopathology, hematopathology and clinical pathology, besides providing teaching to medical students, the basic understanding of disease and relate its importance with clinical findings through an integrated approach.

The department is creating an enabling environment to encourage research activities for medical students, residents and faculty. The specialized patient care facilities available are, diagnostic full panel IHC markers by fully automated system, frozen section facility, coagulation profile, HPLC, flow cytometry. An Immunofluorescence laboratory is now established and ready to start the facility for Dermatopathology and Nephropathology cases.
