Nephrology

Introduction

Department of Nephrology looks after conditions affecting kidneys. These include acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, Nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, urinary tract infection, Nephrolithiasis, renal tubular disorders and Reno vascular disease. It also covers patients on hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and Patients with renal transplant.

In Patient Department (IPD):
Nephrology ward is currently being renovated to have 30 beds, 4 bedded HDU, and one isolation room. Ward is attended by post MBBS Junior residents and Post MD Medicine senior residents round the clock. Procedures like Bedside USG, Bedside Kidney biopsy, Tunneled catheter removal. Procedure room is going to be equipped with portable USG and USG guided Kidney biopsies are performed in this room.

Dialysis Unit:
Dialysis room is currently equipped with 10 hemodialysis machine including 2 for seropositive patient. Dialysis center is managed by trained and skilled dialysis technical staffs and routinely perform intermittent HD, SLED, SCUF and Plasmaphaeresis.

Minor Operation Theatre:
Following procedures are being performed on routine basis in minor OT at A block.

  1. Tunneled dialysis catheter insertion- USG guided internal or femoral catheter placement done under local anesthesia. DSA/Fluoroscopy guided catheter insertion is done as and when required.
  2. CAPD catheter insertion- by per - cutaneous and mini laparotomy approach.
Renal Transplant:
Renal Transplant ICU and Ward are currently under construction

  1. 6 days a week OPD
  2. Attending peripheral calls and emergency call of both In patients and Out patients
